Belden CDT Extends Its CCTV Cable Line

Belden CDT New Generation Banana Peel Composite cables suit pan/tilt/zoom camera set-ups and feature a revolutionary new cable design which allows for quick, easy installation

RICHMOND,IN - Belden CDT Electronics Division, a unit of Belden CDT, Inc., and a world leader in the development of wire and cable products for security and other applications, has introduced an innovative new cable design for pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) cameras used in closed circuit television (CCTV) surveillance systems. Belden CDT New Generation Banana Peel PTZ Composite cables are ideal for security applications in hospitals, airports, amusement parks, retail establishments, universities, casinos, sports stadiums and correctional facilities wherever there is a need for a protective CCTV surveillance installation to monitor people, activities and/or assets.

New Generation Banana Peel PTZ Composite cables are offered in both riser and plenum versions. And, in order to accommodate control encoding schemes or protocols such as Manchester, Sensornet and RS-422, they are comprised of the following components:

- One RG-59 coaxial cable (for video)

- 1-Pair 18 AWG cable (for power)

- One 23 AWG UTP or One 22 or 18 AWG STP (for control)

Since these new cables are composites, they eliminate the need for pulling individual video, power and control cables C a real time/labor-savings for the installer. But these composite cables offer even more: they feature Belden's revolutionary (patent pending) Banana Peel design. In the Banana Peel design, the individual, color-coded cables are affixed to a center spline, thus eliminating the need for an overall jacket. This jacketless design, with each individual cable instantly identifiable, speeds and simplifies installation. Installers simply peel off the required cable component and it's ready for termination.

Belden CDT also offers a complete line of New Generation cables for fixed-camera installations, including individual coaxes, and coaxial/twisted pair composite cables suitable for video, video/power or control, or video/data fixed-camera applications. All New Generation cables are offered in both plenum-rated and riser-rated versions.
