The first thing you should know about ANY smoke detector camera is that it requires some type of power source. This model comes with an internal 2.4GHz transmitter that will send wireless video to the included receiver. Simply attach the receiver to your VCR and begin recording.

"Wireless" does not mean "cordless".

Most people choose to drill a tiny hole in a wall just behind the detector and "fish" the cable through the opposite side to a closet where a VCR can be easily hidden. If you are mounting this device on a ceiling then the ideal situation would be a drop type tile ceiling where access is easy.
