Every year there are 383,000 residential fires resulting
in 3,000 deaths. Another 1,800 die each year from carbon monoxide poisoning. You
can help protect your household from these devastating tragedies by adding ADT
Fire Protection and ADT Carbon Monoxide detection to your ADT monitored alarm
system.
When an ADT fire alarm is transmitted, an ADT Customer Monitoring Center Professional may try to contact you before notifying the fire department. This phone call acts as an additional alarm to help get you to safety. The ADT Carbon Monoxide Detector can alert you to high levels of this gas in your home before it becomes deadly. Just the facts. Every year 1,800 people die from carbon monoxide poisoning. This odorless, tasteless and colorless gas produces symptoms that are similar to the flu, but without fever and include: Dizziness Fatigue Headache Nausea Irregular breathing If you have any of these symptoms try going outside for a while. If your symptoms seem to disappear while you are out, and then reappear when you return to your home, you may have carbon monoxide poisoning. If you suspect carbon monoxide poisoning, open doors and windows immediately, leave your home as quickly as possible and contact the fire department for help. Be sure to tell emergency responders and medical personnel that you believe your illness is carbon monoxide poisoning. The risk of carbon monoxide death is highest for the very young (ages 4 or younger) or the very old (ages 75 or above). That's why many ADT customers include carbon monoxide monitoring along with their fire and burglary protection as part of their home security system for added peace of mind. |
