Procera Networks Gains Customer Traction in the Fast-growing Market for
Internet-based Video Conferencing - by Eliminating the Cost of Installing
Additional T1 Lines and Improving the Quality of VPN Telecommunications
Services With a Compelling ROI
CAMPBELL, Calif., April 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Procera(R) Networks,
Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: PRNW), a pioneering developer of optimized network
security and compliance systems, announced that IC Media, a fabless
semiconductor manufacturer with multiple domestic and international offices,
has deployed Procera's OptimIP Application Accelerator appliance systems to
dramatically reduce the cost and improve the quality of its essential
multi-office telecommunications. The Procera system provides IC Media with
optimized quality of service for video conferencing, large FTP data transfers,
access to Windows file servers and email -- all without requiring additional
expensive T1 connections.
"We searched extensively for a solution to improve our video conferencing
image and voice quality and data transfers using our inter-location VPN," said
Jonathan Clark, Director of MIS at IC Media. "The Procera OptimIP appliance
works harmoniously with our Cisco 3524 switches to dramatically improve the
quality of service of H.323 and FTP protocols and Windows-based file services
using our existing bandwidth and without requiring us to reengineer our
WAN/LAN topology. The OptimIP systems installed in a snap and provided an
essential asset to our IT environment."
The Procera appliance provides dynamic port control for IC Media's
H.323-based video conferencing system to ensure that video conferencing
sessions operate without interruption across the same T1 lines that can also
handle other essential inter-office communications. In conjunction with its
Integration Partner and Procera Channel Partner, The Duncan Group, IC Media
has implemented the Procera solution as an essential element of its converged
WAN topology to dramatically improve the quality of its inter-office video
conferencing system, optimize the network so that large file transfers and
access to Windows file servers no longer interfere with other application and
VPN services, using existing bandwidth, video conferencing systems and
networking equipment. According to IC Media, all new IT expenditures were
required to provide near-term return on investment; in eliminating the need
for additional communications alone, the Procera system paid for itself during
the course of just a few months.
Procera's OptimIP(TM) Application Accelerator is the first non-intrusive,
wire-speed intelligent network appliance that works with existing network
topologies and equipment to provide guaranteed quality of service, reduced
latency and efficient use of bandwidth on LAN and WAN-based networks. The
Procera system provides up to 20 times the bandwidth of conventional bandwidth
management and traffic shaping systems -- at less than one third of the price
of these conventional products.
"Procera's OptimIP appliances can play a major role in any converged
network environment where it is vital to selectively optimize, control and
network traffic for multiple application and network services across expensive
WAN pipes," said John Clark, Executive Vice President of The Duncan Group, a
leading Silicon Valley systems integrator. "Procera's approach to providing
intelligence inside networks means that you no longer need to over-provision
bandwidth to ensure the reliability, quality and performance of essential
communications, especially between geographically distributed locations across
expensive leased lines. Procera's OptimIP provides the essential dynamic port
control that enables video conferencing, VoIP and other congestion and
latency-sensitive applications services and VPN traffic to securely traverse
perimeter security, especially in environments using the popular Cisco PIX
firewall."
The new OptimIP(TM) Application Accelerator can process up to 24 Gbps of
sustained throughput at network speeds without introducing latency and provide
guaranteed service levels for VoIP, video conferencing, streaming media and
business-critical applications, such as ERP/MRP database and other
transaction-intensive applications -- all using existing bandwidth, LAN/WAN
topologies and network equipment.
The wire-speed OptimIP(TM) Application Accelerator optimizes existing
bandwidth without introducing latency. The appliance works with and alongside
WAN network optimization and bandwidth-management systems to enable IT groups
to transparently control overall quality of service, bandwidth reservation,
rate limiting and prioritization policies on internal LAN and campus networks.
