Average user reviews:

Description:The 256MB Cruzer Micro from SanDisk is an incredibly small USB Flash Drive (UFD) that connects to a computer's USB port. With capacities ranging from 128MB to 512MB, users can easily store their key documents, pictures, music and videoclips.Reviewed by: cyndavie from NV on Apr 21, 2004

Experience: 2 Days

Strengths: Very small, works well with stacked USB ports. Blue light is handy reminder to disconnect before removing from port.

Weaknesses: Very small. If not on keychain or lanyard, would be easy to lose.

Summary: Tiny powerhouse! This small USB flash drive is the perfect item for those with stacked USB ports. Easy to use - just plug in and go! When in use, the blue light is a great reminder to disconnect from the computer before unplugging. Certainly the best in its price range.

Strengths: Small size, sturdy and solid feel, cool blue light, can use it with the mp3 player accessory.

Weaknesses: cuz its small could lose it, but that applies to any "flash drive", no interchangeable color caps

Summary: I have already a 256 cruz micro, which works great. But this thing is even smaller. Small and flat is good esp when you have usb laptop ports so close together.

Its nice that there are two caps, a regular cap and a larger protective cap that encloses the entire drive.

Overall I like it.

Funny thing happened when I first popped in this usb drive, the file encrypt.exe that comes preloaded was detected with the virus by nav as W95.CIH. Not sure if this was just a random unexplained event or a false detect by the virus program.

Strengths: comnpact, attractive, fast read/write speed, encreption, price

Weaknesses: detachable cap can be easily lost. There are no instructions for the encryption software.

Summary: I have been searching for a good and small USB flash drive for a while that has a decent price. This has it all. It can even convert to an MP3 player if you buy an adapter. Just don't lose the cap!

Strengths: Very portable, lots of storage capacity. Nice Design. and easy to pack and connect. Perfect for sharing projects and transporting LOTS of info.

Weaknesses: I haven't seen any so far.

Summary: I really looked around for a nice and stylish UPS Memory that also worked well and I found it with the Sandisk Cruzer MIcro. It is very nice, portable and easy to use. It stores a lot with it's 256mb. And, is soooooo necessary for project sharing and transfering info. Great product.

Weaknesses: Too small (but aren't all of these Flash Drives)

Summary: Love it, works great with my PC & laptop. I like the whole mp3 compatability too, if I ever decide to go that route. That's why I bought the micro cruzer rather than the mini cruzer. I would highly recommend this product to anyone that wants a flash drive. It's cheap and efficient.

Replaces a much (physically) larger 64mb drive.
For 50 bucks, you can't go wrong.

Weaknesses: Have to get drivers for password lock and win98 systems

Summary: I have had this device for several days and I love it!! So much easier than carrying around floppys or even a disc. It's small and fits in your shirt or pants pocket. Great for transporting pictures and mpegs. I've used it on several computers and have not had a problem.

Strengths: Veri compact, and easy to use.

Weaknesses: Too slow especially in writing.

Summary: I bought both mini and micro 256 MB USB drives. But suprisingly the micro (which is a new and more compact modal) is 92% slower than mini on average. I tested both reading and writing with different type of files and different size of files on a pc with USB 2.0 capacity. But still the micro is better in shape and portability.

Strengths: Size (smaller than SanDisk Mini), rugged feel, ease of use

Weaknesses: Plastic cap (only comes with one)

Summary: The device is very easy to operate and is instantly recognized by the computer as a separate drive when inserted into the USB port. The blue light on the end of the drive is a stylish touch, if you're into that sort of thing. Also, the Micro has an additional MP3 companion (sold separately, it will probably retail for approx. $40 sometime in the near future) - which will make it possible to listen to music directly from the drive; note that the SanDisk Mini does not have this versatility. Overall, it's a great device made by one of the leading manufacturers and is well worth the price of approx. $50.

Strengths: Small, easy to use. Doesn't need drivers. More handy than messing with a bunch of floppy disks.

Weaknesses: Needs keyring. Needs drivers for some operating systems. If you have a cluttered work area , you may spend some time looking for it.

Summary: Works with no drivers. Haven't had trouble using on different computers. Very handy device. Holds hundreds of photos. Will hold short video clips. Very handy to transfer files from work to home, or from work station to work station. Works with Mac and PC. Handy to use at school without carrying a bunch of floppy disks.

Strengths: You can't mistake when it's plugged in with the blue light. I can see it throught the space between my laptop monitor & base.

Weaknesses: It isn't immediately clear how all the covers fit together. It remains to be seen if the covers will stay on. Other models seem to be more secure.

Summary: Transfer speeds are fine. This device beats using floppies! I called tech support at SanDisk & it seemed professional. For novice users it would be nice to further explain how to disconnect the device via Unplug or Eject Hardware icon.

Strengths: Portable and sleek, attractive design.

Weaknesses: File transfer is slower than when using CD-RW or Zip disks. The flash drive does not show up in the My Computer window.

Summary: This little gadget is a convenient way to transfer large files between computers without the bulk of zip disks. However, it is rather small and can get easily lost. It does not come with a key chain ring (it only comes with an unfashionble neck tag) so don't get this one if you have the tendency of losing things and don't want to wear it around your neck.

Strengths: Durability.

Weaknesses: None identified.

Summary: I've been impressed with this drive for the 8 months I've had it, but it truly amazed me after a potential disaster. I left it in a shirt pocket that wound up in the laundry. It went through the full wash, rinse, and dryer cycles, before I knew what had happened. Thought for sure it would be dead. Plugged it in just to be sure, and was shocked to see its blue light pop on. No damage to either the drive or the files on it! What a terrific product!

Strengths: Small size, cool looks, bright LED, nice metal cover inside the plastic cover, durable

Weaknesses: Slow transfer rates, hard to use encryption function

Summary: This a great flash drive. It holds a lot of stuff and is cool looking too. The LED is very cool looking in the dark. The cap is easy to put on the back and the chain helps too. It's is also pretty durable too. One time it was accidently put in the washing machine and it wasn't damaged. The small size makes it extremely easy to carry around and to plugin. One of the weakness is the slow transfer speed. A 45 Mb file took 2 mins. The transfer rate of 0.7 Mb/sec writing and 1.1 Mb/sec reading isn't very impressive. The encrytion program is hard to use and the manual isn't specific enough, but it offers great protection. This device is a great value.
