Manufacturer: Epson
Model: C11C546011 Printer Type: Color Inkjet Average User Rating: Number of User Reviews: 23 Reviewed by: tsheehe from NJ on Apr 13, 2005 Rating: Experience: Strengths: color pictures easy to install Weaknesses: ink is expensive runs out quickly Summary: I print mostly word documents and have it on the setting "black ink only" it still prints in color and drains all the colors. it then will not print anything with the color cartridges empty would not buy this for Black and white printing Reviewed by: stbern from NY on Apr 3, 2005 Rating: Experience: 4 Months Strengths: Superb quality of photos, good software package, easy setup, very low initial cost. Weaknesses: Set of ink cartridges cost between $65 and $80. If you forget to shut it off and let it sit for several days the ink head has to be cleaned. Summary: I definately would reccomend it, the quality is as close to a photograph as I have seen. You can get about 30 8x10 photos out of a set of ink cartridges. If you run out of ink in any of the cartridges it will not print. Always keep a set of spare ink cartridges. Reviewed by: ntrop from PA on Jul 25, 2004 Rating: Experience: 14 Days Strengths: Technology, Versitility, Build Quality, Useable software (for a change), Price Weaknesses: Same as all of them - consumable costs. Propriety ink and paper prices. Ouch. Summary: As user reviews indicate, this is a MUCH better printer than what so called "technology critics" give it credit for. First off, this is a "photo printer" get it, critics? Say it slow now... P-H-O-T-O P-R-I-N-T-E-R. Why do they weight silly things like minor variances in print speed so high, and ignore the items I've listed below? Why knock it for not doing things it was not designed to do (like produce near-laser quality text. Text printing quality/speed is better than acceptable by the way...) and all but fluff off things like its capability to print borderless on a wide variety of paper sizes - which is somethings other printers in its class (and above) usually can't do, and print directly on CDs/DVDs which other printers can't do at all? Glad I ignored them on this one... This printer is a compelling choice in its class for the following reasons: 1. Technology: 6 color printer, individual ink tanks, 3 picoliter drops, and micropiezo technology combine to produce prints which are visibley >better than< lab (I did some side by side comparisons) when using Epson ink and paper. 2. Versitility:borderless prints on ALL paper sizes up to 8 1/2 X 11(!) CD/DVD print capability. 3. BUILD QUALITY! This does NOT look/feel like a budget printer. 4. Useable Software. Includes a PS compatible plug-in for print/printer profile quality management. 5. All of the above packed in a $100 printer. Reviewed by: asyd826 from NJ on May 30, 2004 Rating: Experience: 15 Days Strengths: CD Printing! The main reason why I bought this printer and let me say, the prints are gorgeous. Weaknesses: haven't found any yet Summary: Before I bought this printer, I had the canon I950, which is a very good printer, but lacks CD/DVD printing. I did some research and I could only find the Epson which has CD/DVD printing at an affordable price. Very good all purpose printer, even prints pictures! Reviewed by: grumpypop from NY on Jun 21, 2004 Rating: Experience: 2 Weeks Strengths: Prints onto cd/dvd. Weaknesses: Eats up a lot of ink Summary: The reason I purchased the R200 was because it printed onto cd/dvd's. I didn't really need another printer since the Epson 820 I was using was about only one year old and was just fine. But, since I burn a fair amount of dvd's, I really wanted to do a better job on the face of the disk rather than use the avery adhesive labels that I thought was a bit "sticky" to work with. The software that comes with the R200 is "Print CD", and is the easiest of all the disk labels I've tried. When I first got the R200 a few weeks ago, I was a bit perplexed with how to get the image onto the disk, and then put some text onto also. But, its the easiest disk label system to use. I'm very happy I purchased it. I'll be purchasing two more of them for my daughters to use. Reviewed by: peg2040 from TX on Jun 11, 2004 Rating: Experience: 1 Months Strengths: Incredible quality of pictures for such a small price Weaknesses: None yet Summary: This is a great little printer. What incredible picture quality! My pictures come out as though they were from my corner photo lab. I could not have imagined that I would be able to afford such quality. Reviewed by: Ade1 from TN on Jul 4, 2004 Rating: Experience: 4 Weeks Strengths: Prints good CD/DVD covers and photo prints. It also prints good graphics on regular copy paper. Weaknesses: Prints a bit slow. No USB cable in box. Summary: The R200 is a good buy for the price. It was easy to install the software that came with the package and setup the printer. I use the printer mainly to print on CDs and DVDs. So far, the prints have been good. I have printed over 200 covers. The Epson Print CD software is very user friendly and makes it easy to create your own covers (my vacation DVDs and picture CDs now have a professional look to them). Overall this is a solid printer. Reviewed by: lsb2000 from WA on May 4, 2004 Rating: Experience: 5 Days Strengths: unbelivable 8x10 color prints!! You can't tell the difference between a lab and prints printed with this printer Weaknesses: none Summary: This product is great! I use 7 Epson printers in my photography business. It was purchased as a replacement for my Epson Stylus Photo 820. Epson is the king in Photography printing. At only 99 bucks no one beats it. Reviewed by: njkatz from IL on Jul 7, 2004 Rating: Experience: 4 Months Strengths: Incredible photos, low price. separate ink cartridges Weaknesses: none Summary: I had an Epson 820 photo that finally died after two years of heavy use. The photos were nice, but it was slow and drank ink like crazy. I replaced it with the R200 which is amazing. I didn't need the memory card slots and other features of some of the higher end Epson models, so I got this one right after they came out. For $99 I can't believe what a great job this does at printing photos, which is mostly what I use it for. The prints on photo paper are better than I could have imagined. It doesn't go through ink as fast as the 820 and with the separate tanks it seems much more economical to use. I haven't tried printing on DVDs and I don't use the Epson software so I can't judge that. Reviewed by: ted1735 from FL on Oct 9, 2004 Rating: Experience: 1 Months Strengths: AWESOME PHOTO QUALITY, UNABLE TO REALIZE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A NORMAL 4X6 AND THE OUTPUT OF THIS MACHINE - 6 COLOR PRINTING USE A LOT OF BLUE ONLY REPLACE BLUE Weaknesses: NONE AS OF YET Summary: THE PRINTER WAS A REPLACEMENT FOR THE EPSON PHOTO 820, GREAT MACHINE ALSO. I BOUGHT AS A COMPANION TO MY KODAK DX7630, ANOTHER AWESOME MACHINE. WITH IT 4X6 MODE AND THE PRINTERS BORDERLESS PHOTO 4X6 PAPER, OUTPUT IS STUNNING. THE SOFTWARE THAT COMES WITH THE PRINTER IS GREAT ALSO. INK FOR THIS MACHINE IS THE CHEAPEST I HAVE FOUND IN COMPARISON TO OTHER MODELS. ESPON HAS SEVERAL OTHER MORE EXPENSIVE MODELS, THAT INCLUDE "PC FREE" PRINTING, BUT WHAT FOR? WE ALL HAVE LAPTOPS, OR DESTOP PCS. I HAVE YET HEARD OF SOMEONE CARRING THEIR PRINTER WITH THEIR DIGITAL CAMERA??? IF YOU WANT A PORTABLE PHOTO PRINTER BUY ONE, THEY ARE ONLY $40 MORE THAT THIS MODEL AND WAY MORE COMPACT. Reviewed by: chriskay50 from VA on Jun 18, 2004 Rating: Experience: 1 Weeks Strengths: Great quality photo printing and the cd printing option of printing directly on your cd is fantastic. 6 ink cartridges give you great photo quality. In the past owned HP's, I've switched. Weaknesses: I could not find any yet. Summary: I am very pleased with this purchase. Would highly recommend this to anyone owning digital cameras. Very easy to print out 4x6 prints. Love the option and software for printing labels directly on your CD. Label software provided with printer is user friendly. 6 individual print cartridges provide great photo prints. Reviewed by: thom418 from LA on Dec 2, 2004 Rating: Experience: Strengths: Exceptional color !! I was looking for a quick and dirty printer to print out some brochures. I picked this up for less than a hundred dollars and I can NOT believe the Vibrant Colors. Weaknesses: I have not seen any weakness in this machine. Summary: I have had this printer for a little more than a week now, and I am totally impressed with it. I just purchased a Color Laser Printer for our office and spent 10x the amount that I paid for this Epson. This R200 is not as fast but the color laser printer but the colors are a LOT more brilliant. I would HIGHLY recommend this to ANYONE who does any digital photography as I do. Reviewed by: hotsnick from WI on Jul 8, 2004 Rating: Experience: 1 Days Strengths: Lower Cost, Convenience, Risk-Free - Eliminate Potential Drive Damage Weaknesses: If you run out of color ink, but just want to print black and white, too bad! The "black ink only" function doesn't work if there are any empty ink cartridges. Summary: This printer rocks. Fast, smooth, quiet and the quality is awesome for printing out prints especially borderless. There is little hassle with the tray to print the CD's on though. Reviewed by: hwphoto from NJ on May 19, 2004 Rating: Experience: 1 Days Strengths: Beautiful, vibrant prints Weaknesses: none yet Summary: I've only had this printer a day, but I had to comment on how gorgeous the prints that I have made are (4x6). I am a graphic designer, so I am very critical of quality and ink drop size. You would pretty much need a magnifying glass to be able to tell they are ink jet prints. You absolutely could not find better quality for this price. Reviewed by: rockstar70 from CA on Apr 7, 2004 Rating: Experience: 2 Days Strengths: This is a great printer at an even better price. It's strengths are it's print quality and CD/DVD printing features. It's also very quiet and extremely easy to install. Weaknesses: I haven't found any weaknesses yet. Summary: I bought this printer primarily to print to CD & DVDs. I was tired of printing labels. Labels just don't look as good as printing directly on the CD/DVD. At $99 I just couldn't pass up the opportunity. I'm really impressed with the quality. I used Ritek G04 Inkjet printable DVDs in it and to me the quality looks like a purchasd the DVD from a retail store. I recommend this printer to anybody who wants an inexpensive CD/DVD printer that also prints great photos too! Reviewed by: vt3057 from VA on Jun 24, 2004 Rating: Experience: 3 Days Strengths: Photo printing quality is great using epson photo paper. Easy to use with given software (both photo and CD printing). Weaknesses: Printing quality reduce with non-epson photo paper Summary: Great printer. Affordable one with nice printing quality(using epson photo paper) plus extra feature of CD/DVD direct print. Easy to use with included sofeware. Acceptable printing speed and sound. |
