It was easy to install and its narrow/flat design makes it easy to place and use on a flat surface. Then only drawback is the large adapter. Reviewed by: daDave from FL on Jan 5, 2005 Rating: Experience: 1 Days Strengths: Price, installation Weaknesses: None Summary: Maybe the newer hubs have the indicator light problem fixed. On my hub, only the ports in use light up green and the power on red light of course stays on as long as it¡¯s plugged in. The power brick is big, but not any more so then some others. Not a big deal. It¡¯s very thin and flat and the two upright ports are a nice touch. Installation was a breeze. Plug the power to the hub, then the included cable from the hub to the PC/laptop whence Windows recognizes it and installs it, attach the peripherals to the hub, reboot and it¡¯s all done. 1 minute to install is all you need. Reviewed by: wjh41028 from AZ on Nov 1, 2004 Rating: Experience: 8 Days Strengths: -Beautiful industrial design. -High capacity: 7 ports and can be multiplexed with other units to increase capacity. -2 ports on top make it easy to mate flashdrives. Weaknesses: -signal lights serve no purpose -relatively expensive, compared to other USB hubs Summary: This is the best USB hub I have found, which is why I purchased it for a printer table project that I'm building. It was picked after exhaustive comparison shopping. The unit is beautiful and functional. It has a high capacity and can even be combined with another unit of the same type if you wish. Flashdrive owners will appreciate the two ports on top of the unit which are just made to dock these kind of drives. I love this hub and reccommend it wholeheartedly. Curiously, the signal lights underneath each port come on when the unit is powered up and really give no information-- it would have been better if they lit up only when the interface was in use. I don't find this to be a serious deficit however. The unit is pricey-- you can find cheaper hubs-- but if you want the best and don't mind paying for it (or, at least, charging it:) then you will do well to buy this product. Congratulations to Belkin on this beautiful and functional new design. Cheers! Walterthebold, Tucson Arizona, 1 November 2004. Reviewed by: eddiestar from TX on Jul 26, 2004 Rating: Experience: 1 Weeks Strengths: Good value for the money. Liked the 2 top USB slots for CF and Thumb drive Weaknesses: none really... I read the review about the large puwer adaptor but it does not plug in directly to the power strip, rather it has a cord that plugs in.... So no issues Summary: Worked perfect. Plugged it in and I was up and running. If you use CF adaptors or Thumb drives, this is a big plus. If you are in the market for a USB 2 hub larger than 4 ports this is the solution. Reviewed by: tott888 from TN on Oct 15, 2004 Rating: Experience: 15 Days Strengths: Lots of ports Weaknesses: Expensive Summary: I liked the appearance and functionality of this product. It even offers easy access for thumb drives. After opening the product I found out that it was stackable and decided to try another. It does stack but if not placed on a rather large spot it will tilt and not maintain the "uniformed stacked" look. Reviewed by: honghong322 from MA on Oct 7, 2004 Rating: Experience: 1 Days Strengths: easy to set up Weaknesses: none Summary: very quick to get working, slick looking! There is nothing more I can ask for of a USB hub. I got it for a good price as well. highly recommended and if it's necessary I can keep on stacking more and more hubs on top of each other! how great is that? Reviewed by: smtsen13 on Oct 6, 2004 Rating: Experience: 9 Days Strengths: NA Weaknesses: NA Summary: Although the Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 7-port hub accompanies with a bulky AC power adapter, the performance is excellent. There are two USB ports that conveniently located at the top. The top mounted USB ports are useful for the USB flash drives. Reviewed by: joegtd from NJ on Oct 3, 2004 Rating: Experience: 3 Days Strengths: Compact, Durable, good craftsmanship Weaknesses: None Summary: Product seems to be well made as is all Belkin Products. I would recommend this product to all who are in need of a USB 2.0 hub. It provides 7 addiditional USB hub connectors in a low profile well constructed piece of equipment. Reviewed by: PM168 from IL on Aug 24, 2004 Rating: Experience: 4 Months Strengths: Good design, convinience connection Weaknesses: Non so far Summary: This hub is the best in the market. It has seven connectors which is more than enough for an average user. It is very fast! The two connectors located in the center are very easy to be used to connect with my card reader as well as the camera USB connecting cable. I highly recommend this product. Reviewed by: givnal from CA on Aug 18, 2004 Rating: Experience: 10 Days Strengths: Works without a hitch... easy install with no problems. Up facing USB ports have good spacing for thumb drives and flash card readers. Weaknesses: Green port indicators don't seem to do anything...just extra power indicators. Large power block. Summary: Good USB 2 Hub with nice design. Includes five rear facing USB ports with an additional two up facing ports. Large power supply, but at least it has a power cord so it can be placed out of the way. Works great! Reviewed by: LilyBird from FL on Aug 4, 2004 Rating: Experience: 2 Weeks Strengths: The 7 USB connectors, and slim design Weaknesses: none that can think of Summary: Very nice Hub! I went from a 4 port to this 7 port. The 2 top loading ports are very convienant. Windows XP identified it promptly. Just a very nice hub! Reviewed by: wally250 from WI on Jul 31, 2004 Rating: Experience: 2 Weeks Strengths: Two top loading ports are convenient. Weaknesses: Status lights are useless. Summary: This hub is small and works great. I really like being able to plug my USB thumb drive into the top of the hub. When you plug this device in, a red light and seven green lights light up. The lights do not show whether or not something is plugged into the port. They just show that the entire device has power. Overall a great device though. Reviewed by: pchud1 from VA on Jul 28, 2004 Rating: Experience: 3 Weeks Strengths: Extremely efficient - 5 ports on rear with 2 additional ports on top for quick access for flash drives, etc. Weaknesses: Have not really found any as of this date. Summary: I have three of these units - two are daisy chained. They work very well and are quite convenient - 5 ports on the rear and two ports on the top for quick connect of flash drives, external HD drives, external DVD burners, external memory card readers, etc. I stronly recommend this unit. I was lucky enough to get them for only $33.00 each with free shipping. Reviewed by: DTheTall from IA on Jul 20, 2004 Rating: Experience: 30 Days Strengths: Easy setup... works as described Weaknesses: small... it has a large transfomer, but it supports 7 ports Summary: I purchased the Belkin USB 2.0 hub to inter-connect several usb devices I own. This makes it much easier. The USB hub installed easily, and has worked well. Reviewed by: bamano from HI on Jul 19, 2004 Rating: Experience: 3 Days Strengths: 2 vertical ports for ease of connecting portable USB drives. Weaknesses: Status lights always remain lit. Summary: The status lights always remain lit whether there is a connection or not. I wouldn't recommend this product if this is important. Easy to setup and very slim and compact. It is convenient having 2 vertical ports to connect a pocket USB drive. Reviewed by: uclascholar from CA on Jun 8, 2004 Rating: Experience: 2 Months Strengths: Easy install. Cool design. Two top loading ports. Weaknesses: Big power supply. LEDs only tell you if the port is powered, not if its being used. Summary: my old USB hub was also a belkin, but it was slow because it was a 1.0. I trust belkin to make quality usb ports, even if they are a little more expensive. This hub solved all the speed problems I was having. It's wonderful and it looks cool. I would definitely recommend it. It's rare when a company consistently manufactures products that are problem-free. Thanks Belkin! Reviewed by: AKYJedi from MD on May 13, 2004 Rating: Experience: 23 Days Strengths: 7 USB ports (2 are top-loading). Easy to setup and FAST. Just plug in the cables and you're set. No software install needed. Weaknesses: Very HUGE AC power adapter but has long power cables which I needed for my work area. Summary: The Belkin USB 2.0 Hub (Model no. F5U237) is a fantastic USB Hub that is compact in its physical size and provides sufficient ports for my USB GamePad Pro game controller, mobile phone USB data cable, digital camera USB data cable, Canon scanner USB data cable, and USB flash drive with some extra USB ports left for me to use for future USB peripheral devices. What I like most about this device is the two top-loading USB ports for my USB flash drives and that this USB hub can be stackable if I choose to order some more of this model item. Highly recommended item if you don't mind the HUGE heavy AC adapter that comes with it. Reviewed by: ghwc from CA on Apr 16, 2004 Rating: Experience: 3 Days Strengths: Very Nice Looking, Functional, Handy, Not Expensive Weaknesses: Has to use with an Extremely Bulky AC Adapter which I have no idea why Summary: I think it is the best 7-port USB2.0 hub in the market. Belkin's name is well known for its high quality and depenability. Very easy to use, simple plug and play operations of your USB devices - error free so far. The design is unique, with two ports available for vertical connection - great for easy in/out situation. I do not think there is any other design like this one in the market. Highly recommend with a price slightly above $40.00 I am getting my second one soon. Reviewed by: WardClark from MA on Jul 14, 2004 Rating: Experience: 26 Days Strengths: It works as a hub. Weaknesses: LED port lights are useless. Power brick is enormous. Summary: The product description on the Belkin website says "Monitoring your device activity is simpler than ever with LEDs for master power status and all port activity." The product packaging makes two similar claims. However, as soon as I plug in the power, with no USB devices connected, 1 red LED and 7 green LEDs light up. So, in effect, the hub has 8 power-on indicators. Conversations with 3 Belkin support reps confirm that's normal behavior for this hub. My new Belkin hub replaces a 4-port USB hub from another company. With that hub, the individual port LEDs illuminate only when a cable is plugged in and the device is powered on. I did not realize that I had only 20 days to return a defective product to the dealer. Belkin Customer Service did offer to take back the hub for a credit in their online store, but there's nothing I want and I'd have to buy another hub. So I'm stuck with a product I don't really want. Reviewed by: konxl on Sep 30, 2004 Rating: Experience: Strengths: 7 ports! stackable! Weaknesses: NO! Summary: This product is perhaps the best USB hub ever in the market. With 7 ports with can be stacked with another 7 ports hub, it is ideal for users with many external hardwares. Highly recommended! Reviewed by: The Shoopster from CA on Aug 6, 2004 Rating: Experience: 1 Weeks Strengths: Convenient Design Weaknesses: Can slow things down (explained in the comments) Summary: This is a nice 7 port USB 2.0 hub - UNLESS you plug a USB 1.0 product into the hub. It appears to me that one USB 1.0 product will make the entire hub operate at this slower speed. As long as one is aware of this (and you don't plug anything less then a USB 2.0 product into the hub), for the price, it's a nice little hub! Reviewed by: jacnetresult from CA on May 31, 2004 Rating: Experience: 20 Days Strengths: Easy to hook up. Windows XP discovers the product instantly. Weaknesses: Power Cord Summary: It would be great if there was no power cord for the hub. Or if it would be on the other side of the product. And then make the power cord not be such a big clunky device. Another feature that would be nice is if it had a light on the plugs that you have a cable connected, so that you know that it is recognizing the connection. Reviewed by: 5999889 from FL on May 22, 2004 Rating: Experience: 2 Days Strengths: The Belkin unit is somewhat unique since it is a 7-port hub and USB 2.0. Moreover, two of the hubs are wide spaced so you can get USB devices installed that have girth. Weaknesses: None that I know of. Summary: Strong Belkin product. Installed easily and precisely as described in the manual. In my short period with it, I consider it as a product that works great. Reviewed by: schweb from OH on Jul 14, 2004 Rating: Experience: 2 Days Strengths: 7 port USB 2.0 hub, pretty inexpensive. 2 upward pointing ports for easy access of things like USB memory cards. Weaknesses: Has to have a power supply and the supply is quite large for some reason Summary: Overall this is a nice USB hub to have. It's space saving and stackable. And for the price, you can't beat it for a 7-port USB 2.0 hub. Reviewed by: mpolisky from IL on Aug 27, 2004 Rating: Experience: 2 Weeks Strengths: upright usb ports are very useful, works well...also Belkin has a lifetime warranty for their products (big strength). Weaknesses: power light indicators don't do anything...actual USB HUB is very light weight. It would be better if it was a weighted base to make it better for users who keep this on their desk. Summary: Works great. I bought mine from buy.com. it has a lifetime warranty. Belkin stands behind their products, and have had nothing but success with them each time I have purchased a product. I plan to purchase another one for another computer. Next 25 Jump to Page 1 2 |
