The only way to protect the network from damaging viruses is to stop them before they enter the network. While other security appliances employ logic that monitors anti-virus software at the client and server level, ServGate Security Gateways perform full scanning at the network edge before destructive viruses and worms enter the network. This makes ServGate ideal for both stand-alone edge-based virus scanning topologies, or as part of three tiered anti virus scanning topologies comprised of client, server and edge-based enforcement. The ServGate Security Gateway scans SMTP, POP3 and FTP protocols, and allows enforcement actions to be set for both inbound and outbound traffic. The system performs a comprehensive scan of email subject, body and attachments, as well as FTP content. When a virus is detected, the system will attempt to repair the infected file. If the file cannot be repaired, it may be deleted or quarantined for future inspection.
