  • Definitely different
This definitely works your butt, but do any of you feel lower back pain when you are done??

Also, how do you guys compare this to Buns of Steel, in terms of results?

In terms of my appearnace, I haven't noticed any real changes yet...going to keep trying....more info

  • I started when I was 14
My mom first turned me on to this video when I was 14. I read the box cover to her and exclaimed "10 years younger in 10 hours, I'll look 4". But seriously I've found that after high school I worked and went to school full time so there was no time for exercising. Three years later I looked at my backside in the mirror and gasped. It had to go. I couldn't fit into my winter jeans or summer shorts. My womanly hips had appeared and I had donuts and pastry dimples. Remembering this wonderful video I have begun a workout schedule of biking and outdoor climbing once a week with Callanetics 3 times a week and already after three weeks I can see such a difference that I know I'm only hours away from my goal.
I've heard people say it's too hard and that they don't see results. 1)They need to keep trying. It takes a while to understand what it means to "round" or relax certain muscles to get the best stretch. 2)People that jerk or get frustrated have to understand that they are being too impatient and should do fewer reps and the less difficult version to build up to the point were they don't jerk. Thank you Callan Pinckney for this video. By the way there is no substitute for this workout. I've tried others and none have worked as quickly for me....more info
  • One of my very favorite Callanetics tapes
I've always LOVED the hip/thigh quick version because it's easy to fit into my routine and I can tell it's working. After the first time, I can feel the area start to tighten up. I found that I had to alter my body position in some of the portions (i.e., on one part she does some of the exercises while standing on the knees, which I find aggravating to my knee joints, so I do them seated) but that doesn't diminish the effectiveness of this workout. Callantics got me turn onto barre-type workouts and I've found they work best for me and my bad knees....more info
  • Great Video
Take my, and others words for it: This video works! I have but to do it four times and I already see/feel results. The exercises work your hips and buttocks so deep that while doing the vido you know that "you have been working hard after this" to quote another Callan video. However, just to let you know, you will need something of a barre, because all the exercises are done with one. Good luck and I would highly recommend this video!...more info

  • Very dated but hey if it works....
Like another reviewer said, I begin this video in my teens (it was actually my sisters). I probably did not really need the lifting effect then but I think it gave me an understanding of which muscles I need to work in order to maintain my shape. I rarely do this now but I do feel that this had a lot to do with building a good framwork so I don't need to work so hard now.
Beware - it is not FUN - and it is DATED - but still quite good....more info
  • Great way to focus on tough toning areas in only 20 minutes
In this short workout, instructor Callan Pinckney expands on the hips and behind exercises included in her original Callanetics video. This is a very different form of exercise, as the movements are small and precise but performed for a high number of repetitions (100 of each here).

This video begins with two warmup stretches, one for the entire body and one for the neck. Then it's on to the floor for seated work targeted on the hips and buttocks. While holding onto a ballet barre or the back of a chair, you bend one leg forward and the other to the side; you then gently pulse the leg back and forth 100 times. Each exercise is performed with both a bent and then a straight leg on both sides of the body; following this, the entire series is repeated while kneeling. It's a bit tricky to get the hang of the exercises at first, as you really have to focus on tilting your hipbone downward while simultaneously curving your pelvis forward (which is important for protecting your back). The workout ends with a lying stretch to relax your leg, hip, buttock, and back muscles.

Although it may take a little while to get used to these unique exercises, once you master the form, you can really feel the moves targeting exactly where they are supposed to--the hips and behind. Quick Callanetics is a great way to achieve amazing results in a short amount of time for these hard to tone areas....more info
