Product Description

The First Alert FAS120 12-inch Wired B/W Monitor and Camera is a simple and complete solution for remotely monitoring a small area. Constructed with a rain cover, the easy-to-set-up camera comes complete with an IR (infrared) emitter and a 60-foot cable so you can install it almost anywhere. This system allows for both day and night viewing, and the First Alert FAS120 12-inch monitor includes A/V (audio/video) outputs for recording, making it the perfect solution when you require a low-cost, 24-hour, complete video surveillance unit for monitoring a room, entrance, or other area in your home or business.

The First Alert FAS120 black-and-white monitor allows you to view an image with a resolution of up to 700 TVL (TV Lines) at center, at up to 30 frames per second (frames-per-second). Utilizing a 0.33-inch black-and-white CMOS (complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor) image sensor, the First Alert FAS120's camera includes a 3.6mm fixed lens and delivers a decent resolution of 380 horizontal TVL. This camera can receive a picture under no-light (0 Lux) conditions thanks to six IR LEDs (light-emitting diodes), allowing you to see perfectly at night up to 10-feet away. This unit includes a standard four-pin DIN to RCA composite video output connection from camera to monitor and is compatible with the EIA (Electronics Industries Association) TV system. The First Alert FAS120 monitor runs on 18-volts DC power, while the camera draws 1.3 watts. Both units have an operating temperature of eight- to 144-degrees Fahrenheit.

Technical Features:

  • Signal compatibility: EIA TV system
  • Light sensitivity: 0 Lux up to 10-feet via IR LEDs
  • Resolution: monitor up to 700 TVL at center, camera 380 horizontal TVL
  • Operating temperature: 8 to 144-degrees Fahrenheit
  • Camera dimensions: 2.3 x 2 x 3.3 inches (W x D x H)
  • Monitor dimensions: 11.75 x 12 x 11.75 inches (W x D x H)
Designed for either indoor or outdoor use, the First Alert FAS120 camera and monitor system deserves serious consideration as one of the most user-friendly, complete, and cost-effective monitoring solutions for any single-view applications. The First Alert FAS120's camera is easy to use and install and includes a built-in microphone. User's should note that the CCD image sensor in the camera may become permanently damaged if exposed to long hours of direct sunlight or halogen light, so the camera should not be mounted or pointed directly at the sun or other bright-light sources.

About Surveillance Camera Technical Features
Lux rating is the measurement used to indicate how sensitive a camera is to light, and stands for the level of light reflected off a piece of paper by a candle from one meter away. Thus a sensitivity of three Lux would mean a camera could generate an acceptable picture of a piece-of-paper-sized object that was illuminated by the equivalent of three candles from one meter away. The lower the Lux level, the better the camera's ability to work in low-light conditions. The camera's resolution should be greater than or equal to the resolution supported by the system's recorder or monitor. The S/N, or signal to noise ratio, is an important measure of a camera's quality. A poor camera, low-light conditions or poor wiring causes "noise" which consumes processing power and disk space. A camera with a wide dynamic range is ideal, especially for recording areas in which both indoor and outdoor light are present. CCD (charge-coupled device) sensors provide high-quality images that are less susceptible to noise. CMOS (complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor) sensors offer less image quality, but are usually more cost-effective and energy efficient.
