  • Cast iron heats the food evenly
  • Cast iron will last forever
  • 2" deep by 10.25" in diameter Lodge Logic, 10-1/4" Diameter, 2" Deep, Preseasoned Cast Iron Skillet, Ready To Use Right Out Of The Box, No Seasoning Required, Electrostatically Coated With A Proprietary Vegetable Oil & Cured At High Temperatures To Allow The Oil To Deeply Penetrate The Surface Of The Cast Iron To Create An Heirloom Black Patina Finish.

The American-based company Lodge has been fine-tuning its construction of rugged, cast-iron cookware for more than a century. No other metal is as long-lasting and works as well for spreading and retaining heat evenly during cooking. Lodge's Logic line of cookware comes factory pre-seasoned with the company's vegetable oil formula, and is ready to use right out of the box. After cooking, simply scrub the cast iron with a stiff brush and hot water, no soap, and dry immediately.

Breakfast in particular somehow tastes extra hearty when cooked in a heavy cast-iron skillet. Cast iron loves a campfire, a stovetop, or an oven, and can slow-cook foods without scorching and sear meat at higher temperatures. A good all-purpose size at 10-1/4 inches in diameter and 2 inches deep, this skillet can fry up eggs, pancakes, steaks, chicken, hamburgers, and can bake desserts and casseroles as well. A helper handle aids in lifting, and the looped primary handle allows hanging. Two side spouts pour off grease or juice. Even though the pan comes pre-seasoned, applying a little vegetable oil before use helps prevent food from sticking. Whether used in a kitchen or camp, this virtually indestructible pan should last for generations and is covered by a lifetime warranty. --Ann Bieri

    Customer Reviews:

    • Excellent product and quick shipping
cast iron skillets are amazing and the one i got from the shipper was no exception. There was nothing amiss with my order (kind of hard to mess up a solid iron pan), and I'd totally buy from them again!...more info

    • Like my grandmas skillet, already seasoned
I have the 13" seasoned skillet and use it like my mom and grandma did growing up, to make fried potatoes, fried chicken, and cornbread in the oven. It took years for my mom and grandma's skillets to be well seasoned and this line of pre-seasoned cookware has been a wonderful addition to my kitchen. I bought the traditional cast iron skillets 20 years ago, and after a few years of frustration trying to get them seasoned (without rusting), I finally got rid of them. I also own the 3 qt chicken fryer, the reversible pro iron griddle (for two burners on the stovetop or over a campfire), and a 5 qt dutch oven among a few other pieces, all of which I recommend. All are great for camping over a fire, on the grill, in the oven, or the on stove...more info
    • No problems
I actually bought mine at a local sporting-goods store because I didn't want to have to pay shipping on that much cast iron (you can get them at Wal-Mart, Academy Sports & Outdoors, and most camping stores in my area).

I read around first so I knew that "pre-seasoned" didn't really mean it could be used as-is, right out of the box (I also have my grandparents' small Wagner frying pan, which is glass-smooth, but only through 70 years of use. True seasoning doesn't come easily).

I seasoned it in the oven, the way I read about online, and have tried to maintain it, and so far it's worked great. I haven't had any problems with sticking as long as I'm careful to "lube" it properly before putting the food in. I don't like oily food so I usually put in a small amount of oil and then spread it as it heats with a flat-edged pancake flipper, which is more efficient than the tilt-and-dribble method. I'm looking forward to making cornbread in it and getting that crispy outside.

Also, since I've been careful about "lubing," mine has cleaned up just fine with hot tap water and a stiff nylon scrub brush. No sticking or cooked-on food. I wipe dry, reheat, and lightly oil it and the surface has developed into a good cooking surface surprisingly quickly. I've only had mine for maybe two months (at the time I'm writing this) but make a point of using it no less than twice a week, and it's really very easy to maintain.

For the record, since I saw some people complained about it: Yes, the handle is that small. You've seen the picture. Mine is a 10.5 inch and it's heavy: I have carpal tunnel syndrome in my left hand and it's a bit difficult for me to lift and tilt in one hand, so if you have hand problems, be aware of this. You will need good hot-pads. However, since it has the tab on the side of the pan opposite the handle, I haven't had much trouble managing it, really....more info
    • The best pan I have ever owned!
I love this pan! Everything they say about it is true. It heats evenly, its easy to clean and maintain, and when seasoned and cared for properly it is better than any non stick pan you could buy. And the price can't be beat! I love this pan so much I keep it on my stove top all the time and use it daily. It is a bit heavy, so if you have week arms or wrists it may not be for you. So, if you're looking for a good but rather inexpensive pan. This is it. Just remember to use oven mitts with it, because it gets hot fast and that includes the handle....more info
    • Bought but will return
How can other people give this one excellent review? After received it and did the first cooking, found:

      1. The two handles are very hot after cooking, no wood handlers outside the steel.

      2. The inside cover turned to not even after first cooking....more info
    • good starter size
Good starer size (10.25") for someone just starting out with a cast iron skillet. Even thought it is pre-seasoned it helps to be generous with oil or shortening the first few times, and do not overheat the oil (the pan can take it but the oil cannot). It is okay to wash with warm water and a very mild soap & brush every once in a while (which you want to do because oil can go rancid after even a short time and it will affect the pan's quality).
Deep enough for simply frying, but not for doing large meats or dough items.

    • My new favorite skillet !!
Wow... I'm SO glad I researched for a really good pre-seasoned cast iron skillet! This Lodge Logic is the best! I bought the larger skillet a couple of years ago, and it's still amazing. This size skillet is perfect for meals for two, and makes the most delicious grilled sandwiches! It's not too heavy... easy to pick up, etc., and the handle is a lifesaver! The pour spouts are a great bonus, and clean up is a breeze. Wish I had bought Lodge Logic cast iron pre-seasoned pans years ago..... Did I mention that fried potatoes taste unbelievable, fried in this pan??!!...more info

    • No more T-fal for me...
Finally bought our first cast iron skillet. Love it! Great for eggs, meats, everything. Get the Lodge 10 1/4 lid, it's worth it. It comes pre-seasoned but I think I'll season it myself to see if it helps prevent some minor sticking we've seen around the edges of our omelettes......more info
    • I like this pan
I currently own a set of scanpan pans, which I like. I bought this mostly out of curiosity. I still use my scanpans, but this has very quickly become my favorite pan. It is much heavier than my scanpan, but it cleans better, and cooks evenly, and I rather like the weight most of the time. This was a good addition to my cookware....more info

    • WOW
Wish I could give this product more stars as it is worth many more. I am pleased with the way it cooks and fries and will no longer be using any teflon coated fry pans. Just remember not to use soap on it!! That was my mistake with my first cast iron skillet (YEARS ago!!) and won't make that mistake again. Will be the last fry pan I have to buy!...more info

I recently purchased the Lodge Logic skillet specifically to cook a corn bread recipe. I've been a single guy for the past ten years and cast iron was low on my list of cooking tools since I was not really convinced that it was healthy. The thought of the pores in the metal gathering little bits of food for posterity made me a tad uncomfortable. Even though I grew up in the late forties and fifties with my mother frying everything in her twelve inch cast iron skillet, I was a bit squeamish about having one myself. Add to that the seasoning process and long term care required, I passed for years. Well.... this skillet is great. The preseasoning was a big selling point as were the many positive reviews on Amazon. Upon receipt of my order which included the lid, I had to try it out. In short, the corn bread came out perfect and I have since used it to sear a pot roast which worked even better. I will be using this skillet more as time marches on and am pleased with the purchase. The only negative opinion that I have concerns the shipping. This item was poorly stablized in the box which caused the skillet and lid to come together causing a few scrapes. The damage was minor but could have been worse. ...more info

    • OMG! This is awesome.
I have had this for more than a month now, and it is amazing! The first time I cooked on it, it was a little sticky. From the second time it has worked perfectly. It has worked great and works much better than similar prized non-stick utensils. At this point I can cook eggs with minimal oil on the pan. This is perfect for high temperature cooking. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who saute's/fry's on a skillet. I never thought that it would be as good as it is. As for maintenance, I wash it using a sponge and dish washing soap, dry it and spray some cooking oil on it, that's it. I don't think it needs as much care as some other reviewers claim. ...more info
