Product Description

Deep-pocketed Belgian waffles cook in 90 seconds or less with this 1100-watt WafflePro from Chef's Choice. The waffle maker's unique Quad Baking System allows a choice of texture, color, aroma, and flavor for each individual waffle. No longer just a breakfast treat with maple syrup, waffles on the crisp side make a perfect dessert when paired with ice cream, while kids love moist brownie waffles for an after-school snack. Recipes are included in the user guide.

A rocker switch lets you choose between a faster baked waffle with a crisp exterior, moist interior, and heady aroma, or one cooked more slowly with a uniform texture throughout. The color control dial offers individual preference ranging from light golden brown to dark brown. Each 6-1/2-inch round waffle is quartered, allowing it to be divided easily between hungry kids or served as wedge-shape `cookies.' The WafflePro also features nonstick plates and an overflow channel that wipe clean, a floating hinge to maintain even baking over varying thicknesses, and a beeper that sounds five times when cooking is done. Green and red baking lights make the whole procedure a snap. The cord wraps neatly underneath and the maker stands upright for compact storage. The waffle maker measures 8-1/2 by 9-1/2 by 3 inches and comes with a one-year warranty. --Ann Bieri

Customer Reviews:

  • I read the reviews on all brands of belgian waffle makers
We have wanted a good belgian waffle and haven't been able to find one until now. I started by reading all the reviews on all brands of belgian waffle makers. I liked what Chef's Choice reviews said. I ordered it and haven't been sorry. We use it at least once a week. It's not very big, but it can put out the waffles fast. They come out just the way we like them, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I like it because you can control just how crisp you want it on the outside. I highly recommend this waffle maker. ...more info
  • Great Waffler!
I'm using this almost every day, for 4 people with very different tastes in waffles...and making everyone happy. I use commercial mixes (like Aunt Jemima, Bisquick, whatever's on sale), minus an egg, plus a bit of sugar and oil...and throw in blueberries, whatever...everyone here is VERY pleased. Easy to clean up, too.

I'm very picky when it comes to my appliances--and I got this at the recommendation of a friend with "upscale taste" who has been using the same or a similar model for a very long time (about a year or more?. I'll let you know if it lets me down.......more info
  • Not a Belgian Waffle
When I think of Belgian waffles, I thnk of very deep pockets like what is served in restaurants. This is not it -- it is nothing more than an ordinary waffle maker. For those of you who have kids, be careful because the lid is extremely hot as I almost burned myself thinking it would have a cool touch lid. The nice feature about this waffle maker is that it lets you know by beeping that the iron is ready to put in the mixture and also beeps when the waffle is done. This waffle iron overall was a disappointment to me and will be sending it back....more info
  • I purchased the lemon
After reading customer reviews, I decided that this was the waffle maker for me. I don't use one much, but the second time I used this one, it began to smoke and the smell was awlful. It took me two days to get that smell out of the house. So after reading the other reviews, I just guess I brought the bad one....more info
  • Finally! A waffle maker that works!
I finally tossed our old waffle iron because the waffles always stuck! This Chef's Choice is excellent! You oil it once, before you use it the first time, and that's it! You can choose how dark or light you want them. No guessing when they're done; a bell rings and the green light goes on, and it's been perfect each time. The cord wraps around the bottom and it stores on end, making it easy to keep out of the way on my counter. I couldn't be happier with it....more info

  • 830B Waffle Maker is Wonderful
Chef's Choice 830B WafflePro Classic Belgian Waffle Maker I just rec'd this item for christmas and absolutely love it. My dogs loved it too...Yes, they got a bite..I used the waffle mixture instructions on the Aunt Jemima pancake mix. I have used other waffle makers (cheaper) and they just don't come close to this one. It took me using it one time to figure out the settings I need for what I like, and the second one was perfect. It is very quick ...heats up after each waffle quickly. Clean up is with a paper towel....I did use just a touch more than 1/2 half cup of mixture to make the "PERFECT" waffle.. I will probably be making waffles every weekend now that I have one that actually does what it claims..I would Recommend this highly to anyone who loves a great waffle... Sandy V....more info

  • I got a dud
I received this as a Christmas gift and it conked out after making one waffle. No lights, no heat, no more waffles. I returned it to Amazon and was quickly issued a refund. So, one star for the waffle maker, five stars for Amazon....more info
  • Belgian Waffle Fanatic
If you truly like Belgian waffles, this isn't the waffle iron for you. It makes a good waffle and of the 3 Belgian waffle makers I've boughten this comes the closest, but is still way off the mark. I tried three different batters and none give you a crisp crusts that lasts more than a few seconds, then goes soft. They were good waffles though. There was another issue. when you first use the waffle maker it gives off a toxic odor as it burns off whatever they used in the manufacturing process. This is normal and was explained. Unfortunately it continues in subsequent use. My wife found it objectional enough that she wouldn't eat the waffles. I think it just comes down to the fact that as long as I cheap out and try to find a great Belgian waffle maker for less the a few 100 $$$, I'm going to be disappointed. Again, a good waffle maker yes, a good Belgian waffle maker NO !!...more info
  • A great first waffle maker for a novice
This is my first waffle maker, and I'm quite pleased with it so far. I wasn't an aficionado before, but after two months of delicious waffles, I think I'm becoming one.

I'm a lazy cook, and I started out using Krusteaz Belgian waffle mix (just add water). It produced a great waffle, but then I read the nutrition label. One waffle has 850mg of sodium, and I sometimes eat two at a sitting! 1700mg of sodium was unacceptable, so I did some research and created my own healthy (-er) but still easy waffle recipe.

This makes 4 waffles; you can always double or triple it if you want more:

1.25 cups of whole wheat flour (I like Stone-Buhr brand, 12g fiber per cup)
    1 tablespoon sugar (promotes browning)
1.5 teaspoon baking powder (Hain Featherweight has NO SODIUM!)
    1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup egg substitute (Egg Beaters et al; no fat or cholesterol; reduces splitting)
3 tablespoons olive oil (really promotes release from the non-stick surface)
3/4 cup milk (1% works fine)
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Sift the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl. Beat the wet ingredients together for a bit of airiness, then add to the dry stuff. Stir together slowly with a spoon, just enough to get all the dry ingredients wet, but still a bit lumpy. Don't overmix! The batter should be very thick and pour slowly; stir in more milk or flour to fine-tune it. The Chef's Choice 830B takes exactly one half cup of batter; after pouring it in, immediately press down gently on the lid handle for ten seconds or so to distribute the batter.

The "Crisp Exterior/Moist Interior" setting worked as advertised (when I set the color control dial to the highest setting), but by the time I got the waffle to the table, the wonderful moisture inside had migrated to the outside and softened the crisp exterior. Although it still tasted pretty good, it wasn't what I'd hoped for. Instead, the "Uniform Texture" setting (with color control set to the 4-5 range) dried out the interior of the waffle, yet left it surprisingly fluffy while still nice and crisp on the outside.

Since (per the manual) you shouldn't clean the non-stick surface with anything more than water and a soft cloth, don't use a cooking spray like Pam, because the propellants and other additives build up on the surface and can't be removed. With enough oil in the batter, the grid comes totally clean. If you add fruit to the batter, it can stick to the grid, requiring some cleaning and re-oiling. It works better to put fresh fruit on top of the cooked waffle instead....more info
  • Great Waffles...Great Price
I've owned this waffle maker for over a year now and have given it as a gift. It heats up fast and provides a lot of flexibility in doneness. Easy to clean its non-stick surface. Like all similar machines, don't overfill with batter and the clean-up is minimal. It also stores well in a small space. I see that the newer model has a locking mechanism for storage. Nice, but not needed.

I use Carbon's malted waffle mix. I've never seen it in the stores, but you can order it from their website. It's the same mix used by Marriott's Residence Inn chain and comes in several flavors. Blueberry and Pumpkin are our favs, and the plain can be used as a base for your own creativity....more info
  • Great Waffle Maker
We purchased this waffle maker after our 30 year plus waffel maker began to show it's wear. So far we are very happy with the unit. It makes great waffles, even with different recipes. There was no sticking - just followed the directions of using a spray for the first usage. We really like the alarm rather than having to watch continuously for a light. Also, the variable settings are useful - we like setting three for light, and tasty waffles. The waffles are evenly cooked on both sides. The storage in a vertical position helps with shelf space. We hope it will last as long as our old waffle maker. ...more info
  • Lasted 3 years
I bought this waffle maker at a kitchen store for $70, so Amazon's price looks pretty good. The unit heats up quickly and uniformly. The non-stick coating (probably this unit's best feature) works very well with many different batters. While the "quick" setting is fast, if you're like me, and want the waffle cooked through, you'll have to use the "deep" setting, which takes a good bit longer (it's still faster than the rate at which I consume waffles).

I used the machine once or twice per month. After 2 1/2 years, the "ready" beeper failed, though the LED kept working. At the 3 1/2 year mark, the unit broke down completely (no heat). If you look at the reviews for the previous model (search Amazon for "820B"), you'll find many complaints about thermostats and shorting. Still, it did a fine job while it lasted, and probably cost me in the neighborhood of 15 cents/waffle. I may break down and buy another one.......more info
  • Chef's Choice 830B Waffle Pro
I have been looking for a Belgian Waffle Maker since I ate Belgian Waffles on the last cruise I took. After researching waffle irons and reading reviews, I decided that the Chef's Choice 830B waffle iron was the product for me. I do not have a big kitchen, so the size was a concern also. After receiving this waffle iron, I have not been sorry I got it. The waffles are the best and so easy to make. And the clean up is a breeze - there is barely any clean up. The waffles were a hit with my son who stated that he never wants to eat frozen waffles again. I have used the Aunt Jemima Pancake and Waffle Mix and also used Krusteaz Belgian Waffle Mix, both are good and easy. The instruction book also comes with recipes to try. I am very pleased with this product....more info
  • it is easy to use and clean but ---
It is easy to use and clean, and I like it.
But I wish this has automatic shut-off when baking was done.
It beeps when it is done but keep burning. If you don't remove the waffle right away after beep, you will get more burnt waffle....more info

  • Best Made Waffle Maker
I have tried many waffle makers but this one tops them all.
Just made the best waffles ever this morning with this machine.
The settings are excelent and usefull for making waffles come out just the way you want them to be by that I mean cooked perfect every time.
The non stick surface does well also. Other machine required us to pik apart the waffle in order to get it out of the machine. Clean up was very efficient also no work just wipe away excess and dry and put it back on the shelf until next time. Highly recommend this machine if you want to start the day with a good waffle breakfast and no hassel clean up as well....more info
  • Qick & Easy
I've owned this little waffler for just over a month and absolutely love it. It cooks evenly and the "crispy exterior/moist interior" setting produces delectable waffles every time. My family loves them and we use settings between 2 (my favorite) and 4 (my husband's favorite). The waffles cook in under 90 seconds which is wonderful for early morning breakfast before school. I even took it on a recent camping trip and it was perfect. I use a pancake mix, made with the waffle directions and if you pour an even 1/2 cup it will not over flow. It you add too much, or your mix is too runny, over flow clean up is simple. I seasoned it twice with oil on the first and second times I used it and have never had a waffle stick. I highly recommend this product to anyone who loves waffles and doesn't have all day to spend making them!...more info
  • Breakfast fun
I selected this as a housewarming gift for a young couple. I am told they use it every weekend for the "best ever" waffles. They dress the waffles up with berries and whipped cream, syrup and butter, or just plain with confectioners' sugar. They particularly like the compact nature of the product as they have a tiny kitchen. ...more info
  • great waffle maker
Cooks waffle fast and evenly. Has a beeper so when waffles are done it lets you know. Had cheap waffle makers before and had
to keep checking to see if the waffle was done and they took
a lot longer to cook. Love the Chef's Choice WafflePro, might be
a little more expensive, but well worth the money....more info
  • Can't be beat
I simply love this Chef's Choice waffle maker and think it can't be beat. It makes wonderful waffles, one after another, very quickly. The fact that it will stand up for storage is a great asset since it takes up little space. I have already gotten another one for a Christmas present. Love it, love it, love it!...more info
  • Loved it, but it died prematurely in my opinion
I loved the features, the lack of sticking waffles, and the ease of cleaning (just wiped it off) but it died after two years. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but for a rather simple product I had hoped for five years or more. ...more info

  • Great waffle maker at a great price
Our family had been looking for a waffle maker to replace the one lost during a recent move. We did not want one of the high-end pro models, but we did want a good appliance. The Chaf's Choice 8308 WafflePro looked like the right product with all the features we wanted. After using it for the past month or two we have found this waffle maker to be reliable, producing a crisp golden waffle. The timer is a great asset and assures a great waffle. The convenient way that it stores on its side, with the cord wrapped on the bottom, is a big plus....more info
  • Wow, what a waffle!!!
I had purchased one of these years ago, and it is still making incredible waffles. When I saw the same one on sale at Amazon.com, I decided it was time to own a SECOND one to have in the wings should my current one ever die (God forbid!), and especially when we have guests and it'd be nice to make more than one waffle at a time.

I would highly recommend this waffle maker! It is a great piece of kitchen equipment and a good value for the money....more info
  • Poor results
We bought this several years ago to very good reviews. The first several times, we had excellent results. Afterwards, all we had was trouble. The waffles stuck to the "non-stick" surface and the back hinge broke after only a year. Now, I cannot get waffles to come out of the waffle maker. It heads to the garbage this morning....more info
  • Disappointed
I thought I had bought the perfect waffle maker. I threw my old one out because it was hard to clean and I wanted the thick "Belgian" waffles. It looked great when I unpacked it, but it doesn't make thick Belgian waffles like I had at a restaurant this morning. When I try to put more batter in it, it always overflows (more than my old one) and makes a mess to clean up. I just hope it doesn't have a long life, as one of the reviews I read indicated....more info
