The Lorex SG21X6044-A 21-inch Color Quad Observation System with Built-in Multiplexer and 4 Cameras provides convenience, versatility, and quality in a robust and complete system. This system allows you to view up to four camera locations in real-time sequentially in full-screen, or simultaneously in quad or PIP (picture-in-picture) modes. The included four cameras have a built-in motion-sensing function so you won't miss any action. Featuring two-way audio, remote control, and much more, the Lorex SG21X6044-A is a complete, self-contained observation system perfect for monitoring your home, or your small- to medium-sized business.

The SG21X6044-A's 21-inch color picture-tube monitor can be operated via its built-in main panel or via an included remote control. Protected by a durable metal cabinet housing, this monitor includes four DIN/BNC (Bayonet Neill-Concelman) composite video inputs, and four RCA audio inputs. Also included are four alarm inputs with one alarm output for connecting external alarm devices. The SG21X6044-A's monitor features on-screen display of date/time/camera, a stand-by switch that allows recording to occur while the monitor is off, video-loss detection warning, and two-way audio capability that lets you speak to a camera location with the push of a button. This unit also features selectable still-frame in quad or full-screen, a 2x zoom function, and the ability to view live and recorded video simultaneously in a three-by-three matrix format, as well as a both single and dual PIP display modes. Multi-voltage compatible, the SG21X6044-A's monitor runs on 90 to 240-volts of AC power, achieves high horizontal resolution of 450 TVL (TV lines) at up to 30 fps (frames-per-second), and has an operating temperature of 32 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

The cameras that come with the SG21X6044-A utilize 0.25-inch color CCD (charge-coupled device) image sensors with 3.6mm fixed wide-angle lenses. Powered from the monitor via their connecting cables, these cameras achieve a horizontal resolution of 330 TVL with 510 by 492 effective picture elements. The SG21X6044-A's cameras are very good in low-light conditions with the ability to receive a usable picture down to 0.5 Lux, and are constructed of durable white ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) plastic. These units feature automatic electronic shutters with speeds ranging from 1/60 to 1/100,000 of a second, and PIR (passive InfraRed) motion sensors that alert you of camera activity. The SG21X6044-A's cameras come with their own 63-foot connection cable, and can operate in temperatures ranging from 14 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit.

This system is intended for use with a professional security recorder, such as a time-lapse VCR or a DVR, in order to take advantage of its recording functionality. Users should note that the CCD image sensors in the cameras may become permanently damaged if exposed to long hours of direct sunlight or halogen light, so the cameras should not be mounted or pointed directly at the sun or other bright-light sources.

About Surveillance Camera Technical Features
Lux rating is the measurement used to indicate how sensitive a camera is to light, and stands for the level of light reflected off a piece of paper by a candle from one meter away. Thus a sensitivity of three would mean a camera could generate an acceptable picture of a piece-of-paper-sized object that was illuminated by the equivalent of three candles from one meter away. The lower the level, the better the camera's ability to work in low-light conditions. The camera's resolution should be greater than or equal to the resolution supported by the system's recorder or monitor. The S/N, or signal to noise ratio, is an important measure of a camera's quality. A poor camera, low-light conditions or poor wiring causes "noise" which consumes processing power and disk space. A camera with a wide dynamic range is ideal, especially for recording areas in which both indoor and outdoor light are present. CCD (charge-coupled device) sensors provide high-quality images that are less susceptible to noise. CMOS (complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor) sensors offer less image quality, but are usually more cost-effective and energy efficient.
