The Mace MSP-14CQ 14-inch Indoor/Outdoor Color Quad IR System is a complete and reliable entry-level solution for remotely monitoring a small area or up to four separate rooms. The four included cameras feature built-in microphones for listen-in audio, and IR (infrared) LEDs (light emitting diodes) for night vision. Dual-page quad feature allows the connection of up to eight cameras for system expansion, while the system can easily be upgraded by adding a Mace time-lapse VCR or four-channel DVR. Easy to install, the MSP-14CQ quad monitoring system provides you with high-quality images that make it ideal for surveillance needs in the home, at the office, or in convenience stores and other small businesses.
The Mace MSP-14CQ 14-inch color CRT (cathode ray tube) monitor includes four-channel video BNC (Bayonet Neill-Concelman) inputs and one BNC interface recorder input, with four-channel RCA audio inputs/outputs. This unit allows you to view up to four cameras in full-screen mode sequentially with auto-switching (with selectable time-lengths), or in quad or PIP (picture-in-picture) modes, and provides you with a two-times digital zoom. The MSP-14CQ includes video-loss alarm, video motion alarm, and mirror image functionality with four-channel simultaneous or individual setup. This system achieves a resolution of up to 50 fps (frames per second) via PAL with a maximum of 760 by 580 effective pixels, or up to 60 fps via NTSC with a maximum of 760 by 480 effective pixels. The Mace MSP-14CQ features an adjustable brightness and contrast, a real-time display, and three zoom options. This unit runs on 100 to 230-volts AC via an included power supply, and can operate in temperatures ranging from 0 to 40 degrees Celsius.
The Mace MSP-14CQ system's cameras utilize 0.25-inch color CCD image sensors with 3.6-millimeter fixed-focus lenses. Each camera provides a high resolution of 420 horizontal TVL (TV lines), and achieves a S/N (signal-to-noise) ratio of 50 dB or better (with AGC off). The MSP-14CQ's cameras can receive a picture even in no-light (0 Lux) conditions up to 18-meters away via their built-in IR LED emitters. Each camera features automatic gain control (AGC), automatic and manual white balance, and an automatic electronic iris with shutter speeds ranging from 1/50 to 1/12,000 of a second. Contained in a weather-proof housing for outdoor applications, these cameras are IP55 (Ingress Protection) rated. The MSP-14CQ cameras are powered by the monitor via their included 100-foot connection cables, and can operate in temperatures ranging from 0 to 50 degrees Celsius.
Designed primarily for indoor use, the Mace MSP-14CQ camera and monitor system deserves serious consideration as one of the most user-friendly, complete, and economical monitoring solutions for basic security surveillance. The Mace MSP-14CQ's cameras are easy to set up and use and include all the necessary mounting hardware. The MSP-14CQ cameras' IP55 rating means each unit has a protection level of five against solid-body ingress, and a protection level of five against the ingress of water. Five is the second-highest protection level against solid bodies, meaning the MSP-14CQ's cameras are protected against dust ingress to the point of disallowing harmful deposits. Protection against water ingress goes up to level eight, and a five means these units will protect your camera against the effects of low-pressure jets of water from any direction. Users should note that the CCD image sensors in the cameras may become permanently damaged if exposed to long hours of direct sunlight or halogen light, so the cameras should not be mounted or pointed directly at the sun or other bright-light sources.

About Surveillance Camera Technical Features
Lux rating is the measurement used to indicate how sensitive a camera is to light, and stands for the level of light reflected off a piece of paper by a candle from one meter away. Thus a sensitivity of three Lux would mean a camera could generate an acceptable picture of a piece-of-paper-sized object that was illuminated by the equivalent of three candles from one meter away. The lower the Lux level, the better the camera's ability to work in low-light conditions. The camera's resolution should be greater than or equal to the resolution supported by the system's recorder or monitor. The S/N, or signal to noise ratio, is an important measure of a camera's quality. A poor camera, low-light conditions or poor wiring causes "noise" which consumes processing power and disk space. A camera with a wide dynamic range is ideal, especially for recording areas in which both indoor and outdoor light are present. CCD (charge-coupled device) sensors provide high-quality images that are less susceptible to noise. CMOS (complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor) sensors offer less image quality, but are usually more cost-effective and energy efficient.
