About Recumbent Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out.

The term recumbent literally means "lying down." Exercising in a recumbent or reclining position allows the user to have full ergonomic back support, without causing strain on the arms, neck and shoulders, all of which can be common effects of using an upright bicycle. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

Features:
  • Recumbent exercise bike with 8 levels of magnetic resistance
  • Computer console tracks speed, time, distance, and calories burned
  • Large, comfortable vinyl foam seat and back pad; adjustable foot straps
  • Easy-to-mount step-through frame design; built-in transport wheels
  • Measures 27 x 38.25 x 43.5 inches (W x H x D); 2-year warranty

Customer Reviews:

  • Good Bike except few problems with the fixtures
I got this bike and I instantly liked it. The only problem was the seat could not fit properly to the base. I tried many times to tighten it up but doesn't help. Well, other than that its a wonderful bike, Zip noise and would burn a lot of calories.............more info

the bike works very well it is much better for my legs than running....more info
  • Mainframe of bike was bent - too thick to bend back to shape to fit the screw in.
We were so excited to get this bike, after purchasing it here on amazon.com. The box it came in was completely banged up and some of the parts were sticking out. We were concerned, but thought we'd check out the situation. We opened up the box and made sure we had all the parts; they were all there. So we go to start putting it together, and then we see that the mainframe is bent along the bottom. It's bent so far back that we can't put the first screw in. It's a thick frame, and we can't just bend it back to shape (at least without using a hefty mallet). We're so disappointed... we wanted to use the bike but it's not even possible to get past the first step, because of how much it was bent. It was either packed damaged, or damaged by the shipping company. Either way, whoever did it, I hope to get this replaced otherwise we're expecting our money back, obviously. ...more info
  • All in All worth the money
It was suprisingly easy for me to put together considering I'm a 110lb girl. It only took about 3 hours but i did have trouble getting all the screws to get into their proper holes. It is slightly rickitty however I can go as fast as i want to and it won't brake or anything. It really is nice to be able to lose 200 calories while you watch your favorite T.V. shows. Also, I am very tall and I had plenty of space, and it's nice to have the handle bars in the front and on either side.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced bike that won't brake on you, Marcy is a good choice....more info
  • great buy
bike was easy to assemble. works great, and cant beat the shipping costs...more info
  • Great Bike for price
I purchased this bike a few months ago and it's great. It was easy to put together. I would recommend this bike to anyone that is trying to exercise at home. I can watch TV and burn some calories at the same time. Con: the seat isn't that great, so I bought a cushion for it....more info
  • just ok
it was a little frustrating putting it together, ok quality,if you are looking for something that will do the work and don't want to spend a lot....more info
  • Super Quiet Bike
In you live in an Apartment Building, you can use this Bike at 3 am without disturbing your neighbors. You can also watch TV or listen to Music. The bike hardly makes a sound.I remember spending big bucks for an Exercise Bike several years ago, this bike is quieter.
Now add the comfort factor from sitting in a relaxed position.
    Great bike for fitness....more info
  • smooth and sleek
Very smooth and does not look imposing in a room. I work up a sweat after 30 minutes. Seat is comfortable, does not make a lot of noise. I would endorse this product easily, in fact I do....more info
  • Economical basic machine
If you're looking for a basic model without all the bells and whistles, this is an excellent choice. It's also very quiet and it's compact size was definitely on of the selling points for me. Only problem is that I wish the seat adjustment were easier to work. It gets a little stuck sometimes. Again, if you are looking for a basic model this is a good choice....more info
  • You get what you pay for!
I didn't want to invest a lot of money in an exercise bike as I plan to use it while recovering from surgery. This one seemed to be pretty well rated and the price was very reasonable. It does the job, but only just. I've had it for about 2 months and the monitoring device has stopped working reliably. Sometimes it tracks speed/distance/calories/time and sometimes it just won't come on. At first it worked great. Also, the seat is not very stable and is a bit wobbly. Not in danger of falling off or anything, but just not a secure connection to the base. Overall, the bike works about as well as you would expect one for this price to work, but I did hope for better quality....more info
  • Light, motivating, fantastic!
I discovered recumbent bikes in the gym, you know, highly expensive & technical things that cost over $1k. This bike is almost free by comparison, & it's plenty sturdy & COMFORTABLE, which is very important for me because I have fibromyalgia. There are days this is the only exercise I can do.

I put it together by myself, and though I suggest that if you have a neuromuscular disease, you should probably have help, I managed to do it alone! I was riding it that night.

It's compact so if you want to make more room for company, you can move it easily (there's little wheels in the front), but the best bet is to set it in front of the TV so you can work out to the news or MTV or whatever you like.

If you don't want to constantly stare at the clock, you can change the setting on the computer to measure your calorie burn, your distance, speed...anything you like! I have recommended this to all my friends & think anybody who prefers a recumbent bike would love it!...more info
  • Great bike; fabulous value
As a 77-year-old with spinal stenosis, I needed non-weight-bearing exercise, and this bike does the job. I assembled it myself with the help of two heavy-duty wrenches in addition to the tool supplied. The only problem was with the wiring: the upper wire must fit into a little fork in the base of the bike, and this fork was too tight. I managed to bend it open a bit and then closed again with the help of the wrenches. (There's also a 24-hour hot line you can call for help if need be.) The other wire fits into the base behind the little fork and then up through the shaft to the readout panel. The bike is now rock-solid and works beautifully. Since I don't need frills (such as a heart-rate readout or water bottle holder), I couldn't have done better....more info
  • A good product for the price
This recumbent bike serves my needs very nicely. I am in physical therapy after back surgery and needed a way to exercise. But I didn't want to buy a high-priced bike that I may end up not using after awhile. This bike is well made, sturdy, the seat is comfortable, and I think it will last for years. I'm not sure I would recommend it for a large man, but other than that it's a great bike. I looked at a couple of recumbent bikes in the same price range at Sears today and the Marcy bike is far better! And as usual I have always had good service and on-time delivery from Amazon....more info
  • Marcy Recumbent Stationary Bike
Very good product. Very reasonably priced and shipped promptly. Fairly easy to assemble. Measures distance traveled, speed, calories consumed, and time on bike. Does not measure pulse rate, as some stationary bikes do....more info
  • A good product for a good price
I really like this bike. I like that it shows me how fast I'm going, calories spent, distance, and time. It runs smoothly and makes very little noise. It was sort of easy to put together. The only thing I don't like about the Marcy is that the backrest jiggles, and I can't seem to tighten it up, but that could be my fault. That jiggling doesn't affect the bike's performance at all. It showed up at my door almost instantly! I am a Prime member so I get orders within 2 days, but this recumbent bike was here in 1 and 1/2 days....more info
  • great, quiet bike
This Marcy bike is great. No missing pieces (perhaps the co. has improved on this since earlier reviews) and fairly easy to assemble, even alone. It's stable, super quiet and compact. I'm only 5 feet tall so finding a reasonably priced bike that adjusts sufficiently was quite difficult and this fits just fine. Although the seat is comfortable it does have some wobbling, but since the bike itself feels so stable this isn't really an issue. And perhaps the nuts can be tightened further with an extra set of hands. The resistance on my bike goes from easy at #1 to quite tough on #3 but I did adjust the lines a little when assembling. A good buy for the home - certainly beats going out in the cold to the gym!...more info
  • Worth the bucks
This thing is great - my wife put it together in half an hour and she's not adept at assembling things. Nonetheless it is very solid. Because this thing is low I can have the tv on, a drink on the floor on one side and my tv remote on the floor on the other side and can reach them both while I pedal! I did 1 mile the first day at medium drag (despite what other reviewers have said there is a HUGE difference in drag between settings), 2 miles the second and for a week or so and am up to 5 miles per day now - and I do feel more energy now! Plus it's nearly silent - we feel it was an excellent investment. But it IS made in China but to U.S. standards, absolutely... Note: shipping was free and it came in just a couple of days!...more info
  • Great bike for the money!
I bought this bike for rehab after spinal surgery and it was exactly what I was looking for. I didnt want to spend a lot of money and didn't need all the bells and whistles that come with the more expensive bikes out there.
I ordered the bike on a Sunday and it was delivered on Tues, in perfect condition. It took my husband less than an hour to put together using his own tools, instead of the one that comes with it, and without any difficulties.
It operates almost silently and very smoothly. The seat is comfortable and at just the right angle. At first the seat was a little wobbly, but my husband easily re-tightened it and corrected that. I have no idea how accurate the calorie and distance calculators are, but the timer is right on. I use the speed caculator only for changing the intesity during the workout, without adjusting the difficulty level. I have started out on level 3 and it seems like there is quite a bit of resistance to move up to as I progress in my rehab....more info
  • Really nice bike...
I really like this exercise bike. I am 6'1" and have no problems with the adjustable seat. It is built very solid and is almost completely quiet when you are exercising. It took my 15yo son about 1hr. to put together with the supplied allen wrench. The seat is also comfortable. ...more info
  • I Love This Bike!
This bike came in pieces, but my boyfriend was able to put it together without a problem. It is very stable and quiet. It's heavy duty, but still light enough to move it around if I need to. I have arthritis in my knees and was told by the doctor to either swim or use a recumbent bike. I chose the bike and I Love it!! Great price, too. I checked all over the net and this was a heavy duty bike (it can hold 300+ lbs) at a great price.

  • Solid bike for beginners
I just put mine together and started using it. It's pretty easy to put together but you will need a real wrench and another person to help connect the resistance cable. Took my husband about 45 min and only a couple of choice words (while we were trying to hook up the resistance cable) to get it together. It is almost completely silent, the pedals turn smoothly, and the resistance is decent, although even the highest level isn't very strong. The resistance level wouldn't be a challenge for anyone that is fit and used to riding a bike, it is more for out of shape couch potatoes like me. The seat is sturdy and comfortable and the handles are too. The digital screen is basic but works fine and is easy to understand. There is a tiny bit of movement in the seat but it still seems safe and sturdy, the bolts may need to be tightened up after a few months of use. It supports our weight with no creaks or cracking noises (I weigh 240 and my husband weighs 275, hence the need for the bike). It is a solid, inexpensive, no frills bike. Great for beginning exercisers that need something affordable but not for someone in the market for gym quality equipment. ...more info
  • Great bike!
My husband & I were looking for a basic bike and that's what this is! We put it together in about an hour. We had a slight problem with the computer connection but he was able to get it corrected. The seat is a bit hard for me....I use an additional pillow to soften it up a bit. Overall, a good buy for the price....more info
  • Best cycle for the money
The cycle was easy to assemble, and was so easy that even a child could put it together. None of the bolts require much effort to tighten, however you will need 2 wrenches to tighten some of the through-bolts. Attaching the cable that goes from the tension dial to the wheel is a piece of cake, all you have to do is loosen the nut and retention clip so there is enough slack for the clip to reach the cable. From start to finish I would estimate it took me 35 minutes to assemble the cycle, faster than any "ready-to-assemble" furniture i've ever assembled.

I weigh 358 pounds and could not afford $1K+ for a high-end machine rated for my weight, so instead I looked for the cheapest machine that came closest to supporting my weight. This cycle won out by far, and having used the cycle every single day since buying it, I am happy to say that it works perfectly. There are no squeeks or clicking sound like others have complained about. Adjusting the distance of the seat from the cycle is very easy despite what others have written, as well. You simply loosen the knob, pull it up, and slide the seat forward. You do have to lift the seat up a little to slide it forward, but it is extremely light-weight and only an emaciated vegan would have difficulty lifting it up.

As far as workout goes, I found that using a tension setting of 5 or 6 and pedaling faster provides a better workout and burns more calories than cranking it up to the maximum setting (8) and cycling slower. The display works very well and automatically turns on and starts cycling through the 4 pieces of data it shows. If you press the Mode button it will stop on whichever item it is currently on (it only shows 1 of the 4 items of data at a time). Press Mode again and it returns to automatically cycling through the 4 data items.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with my purchase. You're not going to get anything better for less than $200, and you won't even find anything better until you get up to the $350 price range....more info
  • Marcy Recumbent Bike
Purchased this bike in Mar 2009, have found it to be an excellent investment. It was easy to assemble, done in less than 1 hour. The only thing needed with this bike is a heavy duty exercise equipment mat and you are off and biking....more info
  • Love this bike
I love this bike. I had an upright before this and it does take a bit to get used to the new muscles this affects. But I find I am riding this longer. It is so quiet. I read that some people had problems with the seat not being secure so I told my husband to be sure to make it tight. I have no problem with any wobble. He put it together in an hour with no problems. Box it came in was even in good shape. I can see that it would be hard to adjust seat for multiple people using it, but since I'm the only one that's not an issue with me....more info
  • Did I get the same bike the rest of you did?
I recieved this bike today. Easy to put together (about 20 minutes tops) A lot of the brakets didn't line up perfect... The first thing that was dissapointing was that one of the bolts holding the seat on stripped out with hardly any force. The second was the seat itself. I can hear the wood cracking on one side and I weigh 220lbs... the biggest disapointment is the thing they call a "computer" this thing is a joke. It's supposed to start up when you begin but doesnt come on till you are off the bike thinking its busted. As far as the readouts, God knows what your looking at cause as soon as you can read the number being displayed it automaticly changes to something else. Overall, it feels cheaply made and I am debating on shipping this turd back. The only good thing I can say about it is that it is very quiet......more info
