Customer Reviews:- Great for Alzheimer's monitoring.
I bought this setup, the battery for the monitor, and an extra camera. It works very well for monitoring my mom (who has Alzheimer's) at night. Infrared images are good, as is reception. Interference from the microwave, but not a problem.
It seems from the negative reviews I read, most had trouble with reception with other wireless things, routers and the like, but all I have is the microwave and a cordless phone (no problems), so I like the product very much.
I'm going to get a third camera.
I'm very satisfied!...more info - Product didn't work.
I purchased this wireless video monitor unit with an additional camera, and after about 2 days, the entire system stopped working. I work in the motion picture industry as a cameraman, so I kind of understand how to set up something like this -- yes, everything was plugged in, turned on and tuned correctly. They system worked fine for a couple of days, after that, I would plug it in and get an image for a few minutes, then static. No matter what channel I was using, or what function I had the remote in, it didn't work. So I returned the system and was issued a refund. It all turned out alright in the end, but I did spend a few hours of my life setting that system up -- hours that I'll never have back. ...more info - Peace of mind.
SVAT GX5201 Wireless Portable Video Monitor with 2.5-Inch LCD & Night Vision Security Camera (Color)
This product has been a Godsend to me. Although it was designed as a baby monitor I have used it to keep track of my herd. Instead of running to the barn every 2 hours to check on pregnant does, I can check the monitor to see if there is any activity and be well prepared for it.
It has been a very useful tool and the sound alerts are also extremely helpful. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking for peace of mind. The portability of the monitor, also makes life simpler. This product is very versatile! There is occasional disruption by using a microwave, so put the monitor in a room other than the kitchen, or keep the microwave use to a minumum when checking it. You won't be disappointed by this product!...more info - Only Video
If you need a video and a Sound monitor this is definitely NOT the right Monitor (So much static that there is no place for any sound from baby), Even if a video without any sounds is OK (even though the night vision works great) I still would not prefer this monitor (static effects the video too), It is definitely not worth the money, I will never ever buy more SVAT item's....more info - good product if used in the right way
You need to use it in an interference - free zone. It works great in our bedroom, but not downstairs. Also, the interference is MUCH less if you have the volume turned off. Which is fine for us, since we had a sound monitor from before, so we just use that with it. The only way it works sensibly is if you buy the rechargeable batteries to go with it. That way you can take it to another room when you need it, and plug it in when you need to, without having to take out all the batteries to plug it in (what a stupid design - whoever though of that should go back to design school). Caveat - the little clip that holds in the (heavy) rechargeable pack is very slight, and any bump will break it, so then the rechargeable battery just hangs off a chord (I want to complain to the company about this). But despite all these issues, I like it, because the image is really good when you're using the infra red in a really dark room and there is no static. Then again, maybe all monitors have this good an image. I just have not seen that many of them (btw - it's nothing as good as the photo they give you but it's still pretty good)...more info
