Product Description

The design of the Moby Wrap uses your entire back, as well as your shoulders, to carry the weight of your baby. Unlike other carriers, which have narrow straps or go across one shoulder, the Moby Wrap is a wide piece of fabric that is wrapped over both shoulders. It is amazingly comfortable and easy to wear. There are no buckles, snaps or other fasteners. It is easy to adjust the fit of your Moby Wrap by varying how tightly you wrap yourself and your baby.

Features:
  • Uses the entire back and shoulders to the distribute weight
  • Wide piece of fabric to wrap over both shoulders
  • Keeps baby warm while freeing both hands
  • Develops a strong and secure attachment to parents
  • Can be used for a preemie to 35 pounds child

Customer Reviews:

  • Love it and baby does too
I was skeptical about spending so much money on a peice of fabric. Well boy am i glad I did. My son is 7 days old and I have already used the wrap 3 times. He loves being in it and it gets easier to use every time. I would highly recommend the Moby wrap!...more info
  • Baby didn't like it until 3 months
I thought this was going to be the lifesaver everyone claimed it to be. I like it, but my daughter wanted nothing to do with it. Every baby is different though, so I didn't base my review on that. It takes a few minutes to put on, but it's easy. It gets a little hot, but not too bad, and I live in the south. Now that she can face out, she really likes it and we use it quite a bit. If you're thinking of this or a sling- I'd say get this. ...more info
  • Perfect for a newborn
Using this product was the only chance I had to have both hands in the first 6 weeks of my son's life. He can breastfeed in it and loves sleeping in it while I run around the house. Now he is 8 weeks old and is getting a bit more mobile, so I will probably need to try new wrap styles....more info
  • Easy on the back, not so easy to put on
I researched several different slings and baby carriers right from the start, and I was very excited about the Moby wrap. It was the first sling I purchased. I'd like to share a few of my personal experiences that you want to keep in mind when making a sling purchase.

Firstly, my newborn (from ~0-2/3 mos) just didn't seem to like being carried in the Moby. It held him too close to me, and while he liked to be close, he liked to be able to stick his head out and look around. Furthermore, while you are theoretically supposed to be able to use the Moby while breastfeeding, we could never quite get him comfortable enough. The sling seemed to mash his face into my breast, and he didn't have good enough control over his neck muscles to really actively push away or position himself. And lastly, a sling like this with a projectile vomiting baby is a very unpleasant experience. He would puke right into my shirt, and it was very difficult to clean up the spit up. I ended up purchasing a more traditional sling to carry him around in while he slept or while I was eating dinner. But mostly, I carried him around in my arms quite a bit for the first few months.

Once he was able to hold his head up on his own (~2+ mos), I started using another generic baby carrier that my mother in law had purchased for me. I would put him in that whenever we went out (facing me). The other carrier had a good place to put a spit rag and it was very accessible. Access was still pretty difficult with the Moby. However, the baby carrier was somewhat hard on my back, and I had to get the straps exactly right so that I didnt end up with major back strain. This worked fine for another month or two until he was facing out, but as he got heavier, the carrier became harder on my back. I had completely stopped using the Moby by this time.

When he was about 4 months old, a friend showed me how to use the Moby, and completely raved about it. She showed me how to put him in facing out, and I've used it pretty religiously since. I did require her assistance in getting the lines straight so that the fabric didn't bunch all over my clothing, but now I can put it on so that it is straight. Since my little vomit monster was now facing outwards, I could keep a spitrag right in front of him, so it was much easier! And, it is so much easier to wash than any of my other slings/carriers. Personally, I think it is still obnoxiously complicated to put on, and it is difficult to put him in and take him out. Up until winter hit, I was using this thing nearly every day for walks, dog park adventures, hiking, etc and I have YET to figure out how to successfully take him out and put him in without having to completely re-wrap myself. I also frequently experienced the wrap loosening up after long treks (~1 hr), so it would require re-assembly. Therefore, I am marking it down for the convenience factor.

I also have to mark it down because my husband refuses to wear it because it is so complicated (and it gets sweaty after I wear it). Also, it is pretty bulky for a diaper bag when not in use.

In summary, I think the Moby wrap was an absolutely great purchase. It is GREAT on my back (I don't experience ANY back strain with this device, even at 10 mos/25 lbs!), and I definitely think my son is more comfortable in this one that a standard carrier. I definitely will attest to the fact that baby wearing (made easy by a good baby carrier) helps you get right back to your pre-pregnancy body in no time! For any of the aforementioned problems, I think this device definitely makes up for the fact that it is so easy to get a good fit, and baby's weight is so well distributed.

My summary of my cons: I was not able to get the full versatility during the early infancy stages because of my son's carrying preferences as well as his excessive vomiting. It is a little complicated and definitely time-consuming to put on, and it is also difficult to put him in and take him out it. The sling itself is pretty large, and it is rather bulky to carry around.

  • My baby loves this wrap!
All I can say is I wish I would have purchased this wrap earlier! I got the Moby wrap when my son was about three months old. He already had great head control and wanted to see the world so I needed something that would let him face out. I was using a ring sling but he never liked it very much. I always ended up taking him out of it and carrying him when we were out and about. He is happy for a long time hanging out in the Moby wrap!
The wrap comes with great instructions so don't be intimidated. The hardest part is figuring out how tight/loose to wrap it. After a few times you will get the hang of it. I read other reviews and got the idea to put it on at home, wear it in the car, the put my baby it in when we get where we are going. This works great, and you aren't trying to keep the fabric off of the ground in the parking lot....more info
  • Once it's on, it's GREAT!
I am a mother to a 20-month old and a 3-month old and have tried so many slings and wraps, it's ridiculous. This is by far my favorite to date. Here are some pros and cons:

    Cons:
-- SOOOOO much fabric! It is difficult to handle it all and it drags on the ground (or parking lot) when you are trying to get it on. It must be at least 15 feet long.
-- Scared to wash it because there is a fold in the fabric (along the long edge) and I am afraid the crease will wash out and I'll have to try to iron it back in. What a hassle that would be.
-- Not worth putting on for short-term use. I would not bother if I plan to use it for 15 minutes or less.

    Pros:
-- Once it's on, it is so comfortable, you can hardly feel it--really! Even after an hour, I have no shoulder or back pain. At all! It's practically miraculous. I always put my baby in it to grocery shop, which takes at least an hour each time (we walk to the grocery store and back). I have both hands free to push my older daughter in her stroller and to shop and my baby just sleeps the whole time.
-- It's versatile. You can use it to carry your babies in front of you, on your hip, on your back, etc.
-- Both my daughters love it and can stand to be in it for a loooong time.
-- It is very supportive for my baby who still needs some neck support. Her head flopped around too much in both the Snugli and the Baby Bjorn.
-- If you tie the fabric off in the back, you can cover (or feel like you're covering) the bulk of your post-baby butt.
-- It did not work great for nursing, but that may be my inexperience in using this type of wrap. I do use the fabric to cover up if I'm nursing in public, but have to remove it to do that.

I HIGHLY recommend this wrap. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I wish the pros could be accomplished with a lot less fabric.

  • Best baby carrier out there!!!!
I can't say enough about this carrier. I tried 9 carriers, no joke, and always came back to my moby. It's the most comfortable, versatile and best of all my son loves it! It takes a little while to become a pro at wrapping once you get it, it's a breeze. For all you moms and dads with colicy babies this product is for you. LOVE IT!!!!...more info
  • Comfy & secure mobility
Gave this Moby wrap as a gift and was very impressed with it once it was unwrapped and put into use. It's a great way to take your baby with you if you also want the benefit of having your hands and arms free. The Moby Wrap securely holds the baby close to your body with no fear of slippage or the wrap coming undone. The Moby wrap also does the weight bearing job of supporting the baby instead of your arms having to do the work. No more aching arm muscles. I'd highly recommend the Moby Wrap to any busy mother who wants to multi-task or give some relief to her arms when it's necessary to hold the baby for very long periods of time. ...more info
  • Loved this product !!!
This was my third baby carrier and I have to admit I LOVE THIS ONE! My son is 20lbs and he just turned 6 months. Many other carriers put all the weight on your neck or back but this one spreads it out. I almost forget that I have a huge baby strapped to me! And he LOVES to snuggle in there! The soft material doesnt tear or itch his soft skin. i would recommend this product to anyone!...more info
  • So comfy for mom and baby!
I love this carrier! I used a Baby Bjorn for my other children and purchased another for my new baby, but I wanted a Moby Wrap also. I never use the Baby Bjorn anymore, my son is 8 months old and since he was about 6 months old (about 18lbs.) the Baby Bjorn has caused back strain. The Moby has caused no back strain and my son is quite at ease in it. He does not like sitting in shopping carts so in order to get my grocery shopping done I put him in the Moby and he is quite content and often falls asleep in it. I also use the Moby to go on walks, since carrying an extra 20lbs. around is great exercise! Coffee got spilled on my instructions so I went to the Moby website and followed the instructions there, but now I do not need them and I can put the carrier on as fast as the Baby Bjorn, it is really not difficult. I love the soft fabric and definitely recommend this carrier!!...more info
  • One of the Best Baby Products I Have Ever Purchased
I have been using Amazon for years, but this is the first review I have ever entered. That is how wonderful this product is!! I LOVE this wrap! My baby is 3 1/2 months and we have been using it since birth. Even now, once she is in, it feels like I am carrying almost nothing. Also, I call this thing "my sleeping pill" because my baby falls asleep in it so easily. Another thing that is so great about "wearing" your baby in this wrap is the sweetness of having your baby so close to you. It holds your baby snuggly and there is very little material/staps between you and your baby...more info
  • Love the Moby
The Moby Wrap is a comfortable baby carrier that's easy to use once you've got the technique down. I highly recommend it!...more info
  • Excellent Purchase
I love this carrier. I was skeptical at first, but I had tried two other styles, the Bobby sling and the Baby Bjorn and didn't care for either. I found both uncomfortable and my baby didn't seem comfortable. The Moby was a little daunting at first to put on, but after a couple times I got the hang of it. I use it all the time for walks, I used it sometimes around the house and even used it last weekend to take my three month old on her first airplane trip (a definite MUST if you don't purchase an extra seat for your baby). Also, compared to the other carriers I've tried it distributes the weight very well and is much easier on the back. ...more info
  • Comfortable Carrier
My son really liked this as a newborn and I liked how it didn't kill my back like all the other carriers did. It can be a little difficult to put on and I often have trouble getting it tight enough but overall I think it's great. My baby is four months now and doesn't seem to like it much anymore but that could just be him. ...more info
  • Great for larger babies (7 months)
I was planning a trip that required two plane changes. To cut down on baggage, I did not want to bring a stroller or car seat, but I still needed a hands-free way to carry my 7-month old through the airport. The Moby wrap was great. I was able to carry my 18+ pound baby around several aiports without any back pain! My daughter loved being in the wrap. I used a front-facing technique so she could look around. The instruction booklet comes with detailed steps on how to do the different wraps. Be sure to practice the different wrapping techniques at home (with the baby) before taking the Moby out in public. One word of caution, the wrap is VERY long, so with my 5'3" frame, the wrap did end up touching the ground while I was putting it on (hence the 4-star rating). Also, I was allowed to walk through airport security with the baby in the wrap, on my chest (but I didn't think that was permissible)....more info
